OEC team was thrilled to be back at Submarine Networks EMEA 2024 in London, this time focusing on the topic of “Collaborating towards a Greener Future.” Our CEO Horst Brockmueller, joined a thought-provoking panel discussion exploring the crucial roles of circular economy and sustainability in the subsea industry, while our CCO Bobby Melville delivered a speech on behalf of the Sustainable Subsea Network’s Cable Recovery & Recycling working group.

The panel discussed a range of topics, including: the concept of circular economy, the link between reducing carbon emissions and protecting biodiversity, the profitability of sustainability and CSR, and the importance as well as challenges in carbon footprint calculation.

The discussion also emphasized the importance of collaboration for a greener future, especially the need for greater data sharing across the industry to ensure accurate carbon footprint calculations and informed decision-making.
